Exam-Style Papers, Marked by Me, With Written Feedback on What to Work on Next

A 60-minute paper sat under exam pressure, in a safe and supportive setting.
Every paper is marked by me, with a score and a detailed breakdown of performance across each section.
You'll see where marks were lost and get a short list of priorities for what to work on next.
Each mock includes at least one challenging reading passage with questions that test inference, vocabulary in context, retrieval and summary, in the style of the real paper. I mark against criteria modelled on each board's familiarisation papers, so the feedback shows where a correct answer would still have lost marks for technique.
Your child will complete a timed writing task (a creative piece, persuasive letter or descriptive passage) matched to the style their exam board uses. I assess structure, vocabulary, grammar, spelling and the overall impact of the writing, then show them how to lift the quality under timed conditions.
Many 11+ papers include a dedicated SPaG section or weave these skills into the comprehension and writing tasks. My mocks cover both approaches. I identify the grammar and spelling patterns your child is tripping on so you know where to focus revision.
Your child also needs to manage their time and know when to move on. I note how long each section took and where they ran out of time, so the next mock is better paced.
If your child's exam is coming up in the next term or two, mock exams give them realistic practice and a clear picture of where they stand right now.
An early mock gives you a starting point. It shows you what your child can already do well and where to direct their preparation before things ramp up in Year 5.
Some children know the material but fall apart when the clock starts. Repeated mock experience in a calm, supportive environment builds the familiarity that takes the fear away.
If you're not sure whether your child is on track (or you just want a second opinion from a qualified teacher), a mock exam with full feedback gives you a clear picture.
Each mock exam is a 60-minute timed paper that follows the question types and difficulty of the real 11+ English paper your child will sit. I offer them for the major exam boards and school-specific papers, including GL, CSSE, Tiffin and Sutton SET.
You book a date and time that suits you. Your child sits the paper live on Google Meet with me, under timed conditions, so I can see how they manage the clock. I then mark it personally and email you the score breakdown and written feedback, usually within a few days.
I mark every paper myself. You'll get a score for each section and written feedback on what your child did well and what to practise before the next mock.
It depends on where they are, but most children benefit from three or four mocks spread out over the term before the exam. That gives enough time to act on feedback after each one. I can advise on timing once I see their first set of results.
They can. The mock exams are a standalone service: you don't need to be enrolled in my weekly classes to use them. If the results show areas that need focused work, I'm happy to recommend next steps.
Yes, and it's one of the most common reasons parents book these mocks. Sitting a realistic practice paper in a low-stakes environment helps take the fear out of the real thing. Children who've done a few mocks walk into the exam room knowing what the day will feel like.
“Emma is an outstanding and highly professional English teacher, and we couldn't be happier with the results she has achieved with our daughter. Over the past 9 months of 1:1 lessons, Emma has created such an engaging, patient, and positive learning atmosphere. Her enthusiasm for teaching truly shines through in every session. When we first started, Clairisse needed quite a bit of extra help with her writing and comprehension. Thanks to Emma's targeted guidance, we saw an incredible leap in her progress over the last 3-4 months before her exam - so much so that she successfully passed both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Sutton 11+ exams! I would highly recommend Emma to absolutely anyone looking to help their child improve in English.”
“As a parent, I’m very pleased with the teaching style and support provided. The classes are engaging, enjoyable, and well-structured, which has helped my son.
The feedback given is always focused and constructive, and useful learning resources are provided to practise further and improve on weaker areas.
Lessons are kept simple, clear, and focused, making it easier for my son to follow and improve his learning. Thank you, Emma.”
“Emma is incredible. Although we only had a couple of sessions with her towards the end of our journey it was like she had been there all along. She has a special quality about her that makes her a natural at coaching and tutoring children. Aside from her knowledge and understanding of the 11+ she brings empathy, patience, warmth and inspiration to every interaction.”
Tell me which board your child is sitting and when, and I'll suggest how many mocks to plan.
